I downloaded and burned it to CD and it boots on both the desktop and laptop.

Now I'm trying to learn how to use it.  Not being a programmer, it looks like an uphill battle.

Welcome to Vector.

There is a learning curve with any new software. This forum is a great resource. The members here will share their knowledge and answer questions. Search through the posts as many of your questions may already be answered. Also notice the format of the questions; providing the right information makes things much easier.

Be sure to check out the how-to videos at www.opensourcebistro.com. Any reason you chose VL 5.9 Live? It's quite old and there are newer VectorLinux LiveCDs.
