I'm looking very forward to trying this out on my main box, running vector...

I'm not sure whats up with the fonts, have you emailed the developers and explained the problem? One of them might know an easy fix.

I don't generally use ogv files, just avi and mpeg, so thats fine by me, but I guess should be addressed someday.

I will certainly still donate the 50$ to vector as promised so long as this works, and I will also increase my original offer for cinelerra...

I'm very anxious to try it out, I hope it gets added soon...

As far as the bounty system, we have our first example of how well I think it would work right here with kdenlive I suppose. I wanted this but was unable to get it working, I offered some paypal donation and a user got it going. Its a win win situation, and now more than just myself will probably benefit from this being completed and added to our list of available software.

Perhaps the bounties should be somehow split between vectorlinux and the bounty taker? What do you guys think?

Steven

The kdenlive package is still not available. Can someone contact whoever has to add it to testing repo so some of us can give it a whirl?

Also, if no one objects, I will in the next month or so put up a test or mock website for the vector linux bounty system or something similarly named. I would like to get the blessing of the main developers and packagers before opening it for general public viewing. I suppose I will put up the site password protected, and allow anyone here access via password.

After people have seen the site and chimed in with needed corrections, additions, feedback ect, the sight will go live for general public viewing.

I can set up a seperate paypal address as a holding account with total transparency and monthly reporting to the community. 100% of every dime collected will go straight to the packagers, programmers or developers who complete the bounties, but perhaps doing some split like 70% to bounty taker and 30% to main vectorlinux site paypal would be appropriate? What do you guys think?

kdenlive and openshot are both available in testing repository now.  I'm interested in what you think of openshot, Haywire?

Try starting it in a terminal and see what kind of error message it gives you.
Also make sure you installed my second build of kdenlive, the first one had some dependency issues.
Lastly, make sure that it is the latest ffmpeg (highest version number) that is installed.

I removed and reinstalled kdenlive. I checked and I indeed have the latest ffmpeg. Same thing, crashes to nvidia then logon sccreen.

I tried starting in a terminal but since the whole screen crashes, I can't really see an error message before the crash, looks like the kdenwindow begins and then instantly crashes the desktop.

Openshot looks good, I will give that a try for awhile I suppose.

Sorry you are having trouble. Just want you to check one more thing. Make sure you are installing the 2nd build of kdenlive. If you have not updated gslapt since the first one arrived you may not be seeing it as an option.

I'm at a loss as well. I'll watch for any one else posting similar , maybe that will help identify a common problem.  In the mean time OpenShot seems to be working for you.  I ended up using OpenShot as my editor of choice.

Personally, I would love to see this bounty system in action. I'm really liking Vector as an OS and the community here on the forums. I think that having a little incentive to create more packages for gslapt would be outstanding. Call me retro, but I love old game system emulators. I know we are working on packaging znes, but I'd like to also see Gens and M64 if they are not already in progress. Also, Miro TV could be a great addition to the OS by default. There is a wealth of videos on open source software and Linux, how-to's, even cartoons. I think we could use Miro as a personal intro to Vector as an operating system to first-time installers by having a video series on 'Getting to know Vector' or something like that. Imagine having a welcome message and OS tour from a Vector creator/developer or packager. That, in my opinion would be huge and could make Linux more personal to the user. I have a passion for learning Linux and working with it and yearn to see that passion echoed to first time users.
