VL 7 packages

I installed VL7.0-CORE-A0.2.iso and was wandering if maybe it's time to build some packages for it.

Just wanted to ask a few questions abot packaging rules and related stuff on VL 7:

Would it make sence to start building packages on VL 7 or is it still too early?

All the packages already in the iso are txz, so does that mean that txz is the official extension for VL 7 packages?

Where could I find a template SlackBuild for VL 7, or even better, how can I use sbbuilder(thank heavens and developers we have this one) with it?

What packages should I build?

And is there anything else I should know about VL 7 before I got started?

when vl7 is more mature (when vl6 soho is finally out), we (rbistolfi and I) plan to start working on updating sbbuilder for VL7

In fact, sbbuilder modifications are really easy, but we'd like to work on a system to rebuild the repos for vl7.  That means checking deps, and doing everything in the correct order.  We have a really hackish and not-so-stable version for this, but we expect to do it more reliable.  That would make really easy to clone the repo for 64bit too.

Obviously, you'd have lots of old versions of apps, but....

I would wait I'll have a new iso out for vl7 shortly with lots of updates. The big ones being glibc-2.11.1 and X.org server 1.77 gtk+2-2.20 etc etc. Uel made that iso very end of last year so it already is kind of dated I'll let everyone know when I have it done.

I sure hope this one includes the Btrfs file system.

Xorg-server 1.8 or 1.9 is more like it.

Maybe even forget Btrfs, who knows what the future got in store, somewhere afar ext5 may be in the works!

But for now Xorg-server 1.8 for the Soho VL6 and 1.9 for the Soho VL7 sounds not out of keeping.
