Hi,

I was wondering how I could install playonlinux on Vector 6.0 light.
I've never installed external packages with vector or slackware so I don't know how to start.
I also don't find it in Gslapt. Do I have to add a new repo?

thanks

Greetings

This reminded me to tell you that Slackware 12.1 packages will work on Vector 6.0. Usually, 12.2 slack packages work; 13.0 or 13.1 packages often work.

Unfortunately, no playonlinux in linuxpackages.net or on alien's site.

Gslapt > edit > preferences > sources tab > select testing. Update from new sources when prompted. Grab gslapt, restart gslapt, then grab Wine. I suggest deseclecting testing and updating sources again. Many leave testing on, tho.

The testing version of glsapt saves new size if you resize preferences. There are bugfixes in wine's testing version. I usually won't suggest testing repo to someone new to VL, but you obviously have more linux experience than I, and these work.

Now d/l generic package from playonlinux. Haven't tried it, and don't have time. hth, anyway.

You can use playonlinux on Vector.
1st download the generic version, then in gslapt make sure you have installed...
a) Wine
b) wxpython
c) xulrunner
Then after you extract the playonlinux tar.gz file double click on the playonlinux-daemon file to execute.
After that you should be able to start playonlinux by double clicking the playonlinux file.
That should be it.

Yet, there is another problem...

I can work with playonlinux until I need to search the place where my setup is..
An example. I want to install office 2007, playonlinux asks me where I can find my files.

Still if this won't work. Can somebody tell me how to install office 2007 with wine, because here the installation starts, but after a while it gives a fail...
