k3b: Burning Data CD-Rs Stopped Working
« on: June 07, 2010, 11:54:46 am »
MY SYSTEM:  VL 5.9 SOHO (KDE; HAL; fstab set to read DVD); HP Pavilion Laptop dv9408ca

Just recently, I am unable to burn data CDs using k3b. k3b appears to burn the CD-R successfully according to its messages but ejects it. My system does not recognize the data CD-R when I load it.

I haven't had a problem until now and I was wondering if it could be:

   (1) my settings in fstab have changed (should I uncomment cdwriter as well as dvd)

   (2) my automount function is not working (how can I manually mount the CD-R?)

You cannot mount an empty CD-R, I would recommend upgrading to 6.0 STD or SOHO as newer software is available in them.

If you open up K3B and then insert the disc, you can see the status of the disc in the upper left quadrant. You can also click Device > Media info.

To manually mount a written disc, open a root terminal and issue command "mount /dev/cdrom". Look for errors.
