Fan control in Acer Aspire One 110
« on: June 16, 2010, 01:03:24 am »
Hello,
and many thanks for this forum!

I really would to test Vector Linux on my "old" Acer Aspire One 110 (SSD 8Gb, 512Mb RAM). The VL 6.0 Light Edition is a promising os for this kind of netbook with limited RAM. However, the fan of this netbook is really noisy, and permanently turns. Under Ubuntu and derivatives, acerfand (or acerhdf) script can be used to control the fan. Is there a equivalent script for Vector Linux? Can acerfand be directly used (if yes, how to do this)?
Thanks a lot!

Lyn

I just tried a live-usb version created with unetbootin (http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/). It works, but the fan is definitively too noisy, and I did not install VL on the SSD...
