I am running VL 6 KDE Classic on 3 computers in my home.
It works just great on all of them but this computer has an annoying noise that is continuously recycling every second.
The sound is like a rising falling buzzy tone.
This is not happening on my other computers and so very annoying.
This computer is an HP Pavillion AMD triple core with 2 320 gig hard drives and 3 gigs of ram.
One other that is quiet is an HP dual core with 4 gigs ram and 320 gig HD.
And the other one is an AMD Athlon with 1 gig ram and 100 gig HD.
I notice that the HD lite is close in sequence to this noise. In other words the HD lite shows in similar relationship to the noise.
I tried shutting down the swap but that made no difference.
This same type of noise is prevalent during boot up as the HD lite is mostly constant during boot.
The noise is not from the fans or power supply.
What othe rinfo do you need to help me?
I don't want to use a different Linux OS.
P.S. this noise seems to happen with all the Vector 6 versions.
Edited to indicate [solved].
