I think I may have tracked down my DVD issue. I downloaded VLC and started the configure process. It bombed with:

Quote
checking for buggy GNU/libc versions... found
configure: error: Buggy GNU/libc (version 2.5 - 2.7) present. VLC would crash; there is no viable
work-around for this. Check with your distribution vendor on how to update the
glibc run-time. Alternatively, build with --disable-nls --disable-mozilla and
be sure to not use LibVLC from other applications/wrappers.

One disaster is that Frozen Bubble installed from Gslapt won't run. I get this:
Can't load '/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.0/i586-linux-thread-multi/auto/SDL_perl/SDL_perl.so' for module SDL_perl: libSDL_ttf-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory at /usr/lib/perl5/5.10.0/i586-linux-thread-multi/DynaLoader.pm line 203.

Just received the same error. Sad

Check if you have SDL_Perl package installed. Looks like a dep info problem in the FrozenBubble package.

Frozen Bubble worked on earlier RCs. For some reason, it's not with this one. Perl and SDL Perl are both installed.

The problem seems to be the sdl package itself. Please post the output of:

Code:
ls /usr/lib/libSDL_ttf*

and

Code:
grep -r libSDL_ttf /var/log/packages

That would be the sdl package, try

Code:
slapt-get -i sdl #that's lower case L

as root.

For some reason, Open Office now refuses to open documents with a .doc extension claiming it can't import the document. The document WAS created in Open Office and saved as a Word document. Going to reinstall to see if that fixes things. **sigh**

Check if you have SDL_Perl package installed. Looks like a dep info problem in the FrozenBubble package.

SDL_Perl is listed as installed in /var/log/packages. If I have time, I'll do a comparison with where things are installed in RC2.8 and VL6 Standard.

Something is not matching, maybe SDL_Perl expects another version of sdl or something like that. The software is looking for libSDL_ttf-2.0.so.0 which is missing. That library should be provided by sdl package, it could be that it is not installed or it is a different version. Either installing sdl or recompiling SDL_Perl against the new sdl should do the trick.

My mistake with the last release I updated sdl for the  new mplayer I built, however I did not update the others in the sdl family but that will  be done for next release. Thanks for catching it before final!!!

Today I worked with Gimp as installed in RC3. I had a crash (termination) every time I tried to drag and drop a dockable window to dock bar or dockable window tab. It's not a disaster because the tab menu works to add a tab to a dock, but still, it shouldn't happen, right? I don't know if it's a problem with Gimp or RC3 or my video driver (the xorg radeon driver for the Radeon Xpress 200). Just thought I'd mention it.

I see that Gimp 2.6.9 has just been released. It would be nice to sneak this into the final SOHO release.

Just tripped across this one.....

I installed all options when installing RC3, including lm-sensors. However, typing "sensors" in the cli results in:

Quote
Can't access procfs/sysfs file
Kernel interface access error
For 2.6 kernels, make sure you have mounted sysfs and libsensors
was compiled with sysfs support!
