Since Microsoft's strategy is so obvious, I sort of find this humorous.
Of course Microsoft isn't going to promote Open Source or Software Freedom in any way that would undermine their two main sources of revenue, i.e. Windows and Office. If they actually started doing that, it could seriously hurt their stock value.
Instead, they pretend to do it. If it weren't for all the years of Halloween memos, sock-puppet SCO lawsuits, patent threats, and outright calling Linux a "cancer," and a "virus," some of us who value our freedom from proprietary software might have been fooled by their current strategy.
Thankfully, most of us have been innoculated.
