In my KDE4 installation in VL6 SOHO, the title bar at the top of each application window has disappeared. This happened after I was trying to close an application with xkill and accidentally touched my panel at the bottom of the screen.
Other times that I have seen this in other distributions have been when desktop effects have been turned on or off or there was an odd theme change.
I have tried changing themes, editing the window settings, even deleting the .kde file to attempt to reset the desktop to original settings.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

From System Settings, go to Appearance under Look and Feel. Click on the Windows section. You should find the title bar options there.

Actually, I did that and reset the Window titlebar settings. It worked for one or two applications and then the titlebar disappeared again. I admit to being confused as to what to do next. I have been thorough all of the various window settings and none has offered a permanent solution. I suspect that some other setting is corrupted and is affecting the windows.
Thanks though.

Not sure, but the file that handles that will most likely reside in .kde/share/config (in your home directory). It's possible that deleting that file or files will fix that.

The problem is resolved. I tried a lot of things. Getting rid of compiz - getting rid of any program that needed kde3 -etc. In the end, I switched to compiz 7.4 instead of 7.8 and I reinstalled some programs that required kde3 libraries.
There may be some difficulties between KDE4 and compiz 7.8.
