I have posted a short howto in the "Hardware & Drivers" section of the forum.

http://forum.vectorlinux.com/index.php?topic=12297.0

I'm posting the link here because I installed the driver on my Acer Aspire laptop. If you have an Acer laptop, or other brand of laptop with a Realtek audio chip, and your sound isn't working properly, you might want to try installing the updated drivers available on Realtek's Website. It worked for me!
