Hello. Ill just say Im a little intimidated hear. Ive spent about an hour and a half reading through your forums and have to admit, that I understand almost nothing. My computer usage has been limited to following a few blogs(basketball and finance) a couple of games, (Mybrute and business tycoon online) quick google searches to settle IRL disputes, and of course the random browsing of the "0ther half" of the internet reserved for the single and unhappily married. I read a book a long time ago about Bill Gates entry into the rich and famous via copyright and have allways been attracted to the idea of free source. I would like to have a system that I can "play" with and learn about. Ill cut it short as to not be TOO long winded.

first things first, I literally know nothing. I have allready downloaded VL 6.0 Standard Edition Gold, but when I try and open it, I receive the "Windows cannot open this file" and "To open this file, Windows needs to know what program created it". Im then told that I can search the internet and the results make it look like its supposed to be put on a CD.

I just want to put an os on my computer that will allow me to go online and learn from there.

Also, having a place to start would be nice. I dont know where to go where I wont be a nusence to some community or another with my aborhing lack of knowledge. Please help. Thanks.

There is documentation included in the ISO.

I know not any help. Linux is not Windows. When you can grasp that things get easier,

So where to begin.

The file you downloaded is called an ISO file. Another name would be an image file.

In nero for example you use burn image file, point to the iso and allow it to burn it.

Now you should have a cd that you can now use to install Vector Linux.

This may give you enough information to get you started.

You will feel lost at the beginning. This is normal. This forum has a good
search bar that you can type your question into. Follow the results.

You can ask your questions here. Using google to search for help is also a good
idea since your questions have probably already been answered.

 I dont know who you are, but your a God among men. While reading other parts of the site, I saw you mention that your tutorial vids dont have audio in responce to a youtube suggestion and that moved me to immediately click to have a looksee for myself. The organization of your instillation vids has reignited my excitement. WOOOOT!!!! Im off to start the videos now, wish me luck;)

@computard, Most of the video's are made with Wink for linux.  They will have no sound but have talking balloons to guide you through.  Some of the newer video's will be sound, however, so you may need a set of speakers when you get to them.  Hope there is even info to get you going.  May have to change that screen name when your done.
