Hello,
I just tried and noticed that Vl-hot doesn't recognize a data cd inserted in its drive. Only HAL does it. Of course I have to go to pcmanfm and mount it. I don't see any disc icon shown on the desktop as I'm using VL 6.0 light and IceWM de.
Best Regards

vl-hot is not designed to detect cd/dvd when inserted.  The is a mounter icon on the bottom panel for that.
see tut...http://www.opensourcebistro.com/Tutorial/VL60/Removeable-Media/VL-HOT/vl-hot.htm
also on hal and mounting other partitions..

Unfortunately I don't have any mounter icon on the bottom panel, except the small graphical representations of the CPU load and of the interface eth0. There is also the clock. (on the right there are : 1)Favorite applications 2)Show desktop 3)Windows list menu 4)Xterm and the four workspaces).
Maybe that mounter icon is shown on other desktop environments (I'm using IceWM).
Best Regards

Look on the menu under Multimedia for an entry labeled CD/DVD.

If there is no icon on the desktop, I assume you turned off the Desktop management feature in Pcmanfm.

By means of Multimedia -> CD/DVD the data CD is seen and you can open it (Xfe - /mnt/cdrom). In Pcmanfm the box of 'manage the desktop and show file icons' is checked (I made no changes about it since the system installation), but the mounter icon in the bottom panel is still missing (never appeared).

The mounter icon on bottom panel is in VL Std. Light does not have one. But there should be a CD/DVD icon on the desktop. Do you have any desktop icons?

Dear me! On the desktop there is that CD/DVD and just now I'm noticing it's the same that is in Multimedia menu. It was there but I looked at it absent-mindedly  Embarrassed
Thanks a lot
