Is there a utility that will allow me to play sound clips embedded in a PDF file ?
Under XP/Adobe Reader, I click on the speaker symbol and sound plays.

With the default Vector PDF reader, the speaker symbol is visible, but it doesn't cause the mouse pointer to change shape and nothing happens when I click on it.

Do I have to use Wine/Adobe ?

I installed the Acroread package and it installed ok, but when I click on the sound file icon I now get a pop up box from Acrobat telling me I need to install a player. When I click the"ok" button to do so, I get a web page telling me
Quote
We're sorry, but the third-party media player required to play the selected media file in your Adobe PDF document isn't available for your system. No media player will be downloaded at this time.
.

It then lists a bunch of media player download sites (Flash, Quicktime, Realplayer, WMP).

This is exactly what happened when I tried this in MINT. In that case, I went a step further and installed Realplayer, but that made no difference (Acrobat Reader has a 'preferred media player' setting which is set to Realplayer by default and can't be changed !).

Well, I managed (thanks to another thread) to install Realplayer, but it has made no difference - Acrobat still directs me to the web page and tells me I haven't got the media player installed  Huh  Angry.

Googling around, this is a common problem across both Linux and MAC systems and there doesn't seem to be a solution  Cry.

Someone has made progress on this issue - see http://yhager.com/content/extracting-embedded-audio-pdf (I haven't tried this yet).
