Topro series USB webcam
« on: October 09, 2010, 07:39:52 pm »

Hello my friends!  Yes, I'm still alive, and still going on this old Compaq piece (although I suspect its time to be fast approaching.)  For today, my query be regarding ye olde webcam.

I got a non-descript webcam from my father.  Plugging in and doing lsusb reveals it's a Topro series, Product ID 0x0003.  Google searching reveals ... well, little.  One site with what looks like a custom-developed driver/module (I'm not clear, link provided here) but my linux-fu has gotten weak (blame Windows 7 and its beautiful shininess) so I know not how to proceed from here.

If I could find a module that VectorLinux LIGHT 6.0 comes with that supports this webcam, I suspect my troubles will vanish.  Alas, I can find it not.

Can anyone assist?  I can provide further information if need be.

(just to be clear, vector-version returns:  6.0 Light Final built on March 31, 2009 )

Thank you sir however, I fear that the whole XP-specific thing kinda limits its usefulness.

Tis fine, my father has pretty much taken over the room where this venerable machine dwells, so I doubt I'll be pursuing this little project further.  Next time, Logitech webcams only - they've at least got some linux-friendly folks in their driver department.
