Hello VectorLinux user,

This morning an idea came to me in my head. After Vector 7xfce coming out,
I'd like to create a version geared for children. With a Look VECTOR CARTOON TUX! After create this mouse pad for a young child  of http://forum.vectorlinux.com/index.php?topic=14952.0
the idea come in my mind !
If remaster tools are available in the repository of course. I can do that.

What do you think?

Cheesy  OK this version would be good for me too! I have a child's heart hahahaha   Grin

Good idea. Actually, VL could be made both more appealing to and better for kids than what they're offered now.

Any unixish for kids has to at least consider KDE. I'm not a KDE user myself, but was very impressed by the KDE 3 Live CD nightflier produced a while back. No idea how theming would work, but to stay 3-ish, it'd be Trinity now.
I hear Trinity work has slowed, but our interest might help.

stretchedthin   If your question is for me!

I would like to find a good set of software oriented for children. There is an interesting French (France) distribution on which I could based for applications.  It's really original. The link here http://www.doudoulinux.org/web/francais/index.html

There is also http://www.qimo4kids.com/

Trinity is a good idea. But XFCE is not a OBSTACLES with the dock I think children would love the dock look. I think I need to find a good set of icons CARTOONS styles..

Exploration idea project for now.   Grin

But I think Vector has the potential at all levels to make it a success.  Maybe the new heros  * Vector Tux * coming soon just for Children...  hahaha   Grin

My kids use Gcompris and a lot of the KDE educational suite.  Unfortunately, I do not use KDE, so I have to maintain two separate desktop environments between their machines, mine and my wife's desktops, and every other machine in the environment.

There is a tremendous amount of educational software out there, which would be a major attractor for home-schoolers and educational institutions, alike.  I am not sure how much is actually in the repositories, but I could take a look.

Here is a good site where one might start:
