canon ip1800 printer driver [solved]
« on: October 31, 2010, 12:32:36 pm »

Hi,

As anyone got or know the best way to install the printer driver for canon ip1800 pixma printer?

Thanks for any help,

David

Solution: downloaded the cnijfilter-common & cnijfilter-ip1800 debs for ubuntu hardy (2.70-2) converted to tar.gz then just copied them to file system- printer up and running again. The cups version in vector requires usblp module and users from other distros will have to take that module out of their blacklist. There is also a simple change to the ppd file you can use that gives black&white printing only option.

Thanks for the advice granny. I have the cnijfilter-common & cnijfilter-ip1800 deb packages and could just install to the file system (after turning them into tar.gz) but I would prefer to build vector packages.

It's such a common old inkjet I just thought a vector user might have done it already. If anyone is interested I am going to write an install un-install script to do it I think.

Thanks,

David
