I use a little python based program called ETM (http://www.duke.edu/~dgraham/ETM/). "ETM" stands for Event and Task Manager, and for me acts something like a "life organizing" program.

I also constantly use Skype.

Here is the problem:  ETM has a timer which measures the real time spent on a particular task.  Usually, when the ETM timer is on, Skype won't work.  I say "usually" because ETM sets its timer to "beep" every 10 minutes, to remind you that you are timing something.  Skype usually works until the first ETM beep. However, after ETM sounds a beep, Skype won't work.  Says something is wrong with the sound and refuses to dial.  I fix it by closing ETM.

So, other than turning off the beeper in ETM, or constantly closing and opening ETM, any suggestions?

Yes I found that skype is very 'selfish' for sounds it wants them all to itself.
Have no solution to it being glad my sound in skype finally works. I know this answer
is of not much help. Sad
