I'm trying to create a custom boot splash for vector linux light but I don't really know where to begin. There was a boot splash creator program in the repositories but its no longer working.... Can anyone tell me some other ways to go about modifying the bootsplash to be a custom graphic I provide?

Also, any thoughts on customizing the text mode login screens? I am told there is a binary called linux_logo, which is called by rc.local, to dynamically create /etc/issue and /etc/issue.net but I don't know how to go about changing that or the actual text files to create a custom login for text mode...

Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions, I'm all ears...

Thanks,

Steven

These might help...

The second one might be the best, but they are both of value.

Thanks alot that second one will do it nicely...

I don't have time to try this today but I will do so in the next few days. I love these openbistro tutorials because they tell you step by step exactly how to accomplish what your trying to do. Its a fantastic resource.

Stupid question though, wouldn't it be alot easier to just leave the config files alone, make your files and rename then whats already in that folder and overwrite the existing ones?

Is there a tutorial for changing the text mode login screens?

Okay tried just replaceing the files in the current bootsplash theme's dir and it didn't work...

I then found bootsplash creator in vector control center on the root account, that worked. I had tried running it on the user account and it didn't work.
Trying to install it from gslapt gives errorss (dependancy, something with the image magick version)

Anyhow it works now. YAY.

There is still the vector themed (or is that gnome themed? ) login screen and the vector window that pops up while loading the desktop, can those be customized as well?
