DVD only available as CD
« on: January 01, 2011, 08:49:38 am »

Hello, I wonder if anybody can help me.

I'm rather new at Linux and I've just installed VL6.0 on mij computer (not the newest hardware).
Everything seems to work fine but the DVD burner (NEC ND-3550A?) can only be used as CD-rom/burner.

Thanks

Bert

Code: [Select]
mplayer /dev/cdrom what happens?

Most music on my soundcloud page was arranged in programs running on VL.

Mplayer burns DVD? That's news to me.

Happily running VL 7 Gold on  a Sempron LE-1300 desktop (2.3 GHz), 4 G RAM,  GeForce 6150 SE onboard graphics and on an HP Pavilion dv7 i7, 6 gigs, Intel 2nd Generation Integrated Graphics Controller

Not much information to go on in the original post, don't know for sure if there is a DVD read problem involved.

My best guess is that Bert is running VL Light, which does not have any DVD mastering/burning software installed by default (vburn only does CDs). If that is the case, the easy answer is to install k3b.

No, the original author states

He doesn't say anything about actually burning a DVD. The title says "DVD only available as CD". If that is true, the DVD will not play.
