I am not sure why, but it seems you are running the wrong kernel.
you should have 22.214.171.124 there and you report "There is no module.dep in /lib/modules/126.96.36.199"
check /boot and /lib/modules and see what you have in there.
your bootloader may be starting the wrong kernel.
Yes that happens when I boot with the intall CD Alpha-2.
Yes the kernel in boot and lib/modules is 188.8.131.52.
I now boot with lilo and get the following problem:
uname -r says 184.108.40.206-smp therefore rc.modules looks for /lib/modules/220.127.116.11-smp
which is not there for which reason no modules are loaded.
I did depmod -v 18.104.22.168 -A which went in an endless scrolling of modules
needing something. Was too fast to read and I finally stopped it.
How does one correct that the system is reading the right kernel?
