I have a garmin 225wandi want to update my maps.  I downloaded wine and ran the installer using wine and I get an error. 

Failed to execute default Web Browser.
No child processes.

I ran in it terminal using midnight and this is what I get

I realize it's kind of late, but which version of wine did you use?
Can you try it with the latest one?
