The Vector development crew is proud to announce after a long alpha testing phase we are ready to begin the beta testing cycle of VectorLinux 7.0. This release is a major update from VectorLinux 6 so please adjust your package update sources in gslapt to use VectorLinux 7 or a lot of breakage will occur. That being said here is a quick rundown: The kernel is version 2.6.37, glibc is 2.12.2  and everything else is up to date with Slackware-current. We have the new xfce-4.8.0 with 4.8.1 patches in place along with cairo-dock, latest abiword, gnumeric, scribus, inkscape, shotwell and a vast array of other programs in all categories at their latest stable versions. We have tried to squash the major bugs that occurred during the alpha cycle so we hope its perfect this time.........Smiley . Please give this a try and report problems or bugs to our forum site. You can download the beta iso from our osuosl servers here:

Thank you all for testing the next great release of VectorLinux
bug thread is here: http://forum.vectorlinux.com/index.php?topic=12938.0

Cheers,
The VL team

I do not fully understand http://vectorlinux.osuosl.org/veclinux-7.0/iso-test/VL7.0-STD-BETA-1.iso
is dated  09-Feb-2011 05:31  694M whereas  VL7.0-STD-Beta-1.10 iso
is dated 12-Mar-2011 23:24  699M.

Is it a typo or am I wrong? Which is which?

It looks great Smiley Excellent choice of default wm session and interface. Im using the intel i915 for what passes as video hardware and after downgrading to xf86-video-intel-2.13.0 and the i486 version of libdrm (the versions in the first beta i beleive) and compiling the latest kernel with no acpi x is running great on the 1.10 beta. Im just wondering how comfortable i should get, i love the apps and the interface. I hate to ask, but are we there yet? Smiley

Great release!
The only major problem is that I can not boot all of my operating system from the grub menu installed with VL 7. It posts an eror (... press any key to continue ...) for Linux Mint 10, for example.
