Was the  md5sum checked
Did you format the partitions where VL6 was - or   install the (Beta) lilo to Mbr -

You still have the VL6 disc ?
Use it to try & boot  either versions

If no go, use again to re-install lilo

 If that resurrects VL6 you  can access the Beta installation to check over
Conversely any Linux livecd or rescue media can do same

BTW -mem location 0x10 is   loader  BIOS interrupt subroutine to access screen output

Cheat codes:
If option to boot in textmode (tui(?)
See if  some variation of (-nox) or (-use vesa)  exists
Lacking pre-scripted options,  the exact boot sequence must be passed to kernel
boot vmlinuz (path) video = (example,  uvesafb:ywarp,1024

after a few hours testing,

I tried booting with vl7std beta1.2 cd  and then prompted screen appeared , i just typed:

linux root=/dev/sda6  ro
----------------------------
booting went smoothly then i went vasm and reinstall LILO again, everything 's fine now......

while typing "linux root=/dev/hda6 ro" with VL7 std beta 12 CD and grub in a floppy disk ,booting still hang...

tested many times,
rt2500 usb wifi card just doesn't work properly(can't detect wifi signal from the router the one inch away ,not along mentioning wpa mode) under vl7 std beta1.2?
 according  kernel notes, it should be supported and work, in reality it went dummy....

Under vl7 std beta1.2, mouse and keyboard still occasionally goes  dummy ,especially the laptop mouse almost goes dummy  more often than keyboard after one hour or two or  if heavy cpu  /igp loading almost immeidatlely..
also glxgears output  is very low for twisterK IGP on savage driver,only 30-50.....

pls. optimize the performANCE OF
savage driver on my Sharp mebius laptop(twisterK IGP + via KN133 based mb+amd athlon xp-m 1500+).....

Now upgraded to vl7std beta 1.4 the latest version,installation went smoothly, after rebooting,  before entering to GDM login window, there's prompted message all the time:
there was an error loading the theme FedoraInfinity,

can't open file :/usr/share/gdm/themes/FedoraInfinity/FedoraInfinity.xml

.........

how to fix?
which config file  does define these theme?

This comes from the system the kernel was built on not the one it's running on.
I built the kernel in a chroot that did not have the timezone set.
I'll get it fixed before final.

USB Flash drive does not mount.  Carema cannot be mounted.

Believe I found why. The file exists in the aaa_elflibs package. Guess that prevents the libtalloc-2 package from creating the proper symlink.

EDIT: Or, it could be the copy of the file included in the samba package...
