Hello, I have just installed VL 7.0 Beta 1.10 and after restart it refuses to start my video graphic interface properly. I have tried all the available video drivers - auto, vxconf, fbdev, auto2 and only the vesa driver succeeded but with not the desired resolution 1280x1024, it was 1024x768 Sad.
I am with Radeon 9550 video card and I use the DVI interface. I have no problems starting the X server with Slackware "Current" 13.37. Here is the backtrace from the Xorg.0.log (I do not know how to use scanpci and lsmod):

Backtrace:

Monfen

Thnx for your consideration, but you copied the help post from Beta announcement
It was hoped a mod would move it

Same answers - (open command shell, become  root)
Type exactly as shown ~ which  creates files you can save/read/post

(Then do) cd /etc/X11  (read your xorg.conf file - see which vid device driver is used  post that info)

Radeon driver  ~ Couldn't find a legacy driver on Web

What does xorg.conf in Slackware use (probably newer DRM /Mesa etc

You may be stuck using vesa
Try changing default depth to 16  & ati as driver (or vesa )

In past, I have used vesa @16 ~ 1600x1200 (max Viewsonic  CRT Monitor could do)
While still running older Radeon 7000 card

I'm surprised you even see the text on screen when booting
DVI  is digital~  text is analog: Often there is nothing displayed on screen until
either GUI log on window show,or boots directly into desktop

Just for h--of it, try using analog outlet

Thank You for your fast and comprehensive answers. I have tried ati and radeon drivers with defaulth depth 16, but the same situation.
I managed to configure vesa at my desired resolution of 1280x1024x60. I do not want to use the VGA output, because the my connector is somehow broken.

Now, with VL7.0-STD-BETA-2.1.iso I have no problems with autoconfiguring the X server. Great work!
