Can not mount SD card

I am unable to mount an SD card in an onboard SD card reader on a Toshiba laptop.

fdisk -l only shows my hard drive

How would I proceed from here?

First, check mountpoint for SD card. If it detected by system you found /dev/sdx node.
Read /var/log/messages and /var/log/syslog log files for behavior of your system.

And do your system use vl-hot or har for mounting?

I am using vl-hot.

Read /var/log/messages and /var/log/syslog log files

I have checked these files but I am not sure what I am looking for.
I see my hard drive and other devices but nothing related to the SD card reader/

Plug in the card and immediately run
dmesg

There should be something that mentions where the device is, if it was recognized.

This is the last few lines on a fresh boot. Insert SD card then run dmesg

Is this the SD controller. And if so how do I get the system to use it?
