Can someone please explain to me how I can have vector skip the text or graphical login screen and boot straight to xfce as the default user which in my case is Steven?

Thanks,

Steven

Vector linux standard and the gui login.

Steven

"standard" is not a version number and 'gui login' is not a login manager...
version number would be something like 5.9, 6.0, 7.0, etc
login manager would be something like gdm, kdm, slim, lxdm, etc

I'm using vector 6.0 standard and gdm I believe.

I chose graphical login during install, I think it defaults to gdm but I could be wrong.

Try this:
Login as root, then right click on the desktop, choose Applications>System>Login Window>The Security tab - click on Automatic Login and choose Steven, close the window and restart the PC to test whether it works.
