Hello Vectorians!

I am new to Vector and have not quite installed it yet. Though I don't need help with install yet, I wanted to know if Vector will operate well on my Gateway 9.5GB HDD, 128MB RAM, Intel Celeron 433Hz. I want to experiment making my PC into a web/email server hosting 3-5 email accounts (LAN only, it's a learning experience). Is it possible? I downloaded Vector to CD (it barely fits) but it seems that my machine won't boot the CD. Is the CD live? It may have been a bad download but any other ideas to t/s would be welcomed with many thanks!

I must add that I spent a few hours reading posts in this community and it amazes me that the folks in here are so light-hearted, positive and give definition to the term 'community'. Wow! In a lot of other distro-forums I find sarcasm & condescension, especially towards new users who seem clueless like me. I'm impressed!

Welcome P05TMAN,

How did you burn your CD? It needs to be burned as an ISO image, not as a data disc with the file on it.

Now that you ask, I can't remember. It's on an -RW so I'm going to retry. I'll post any issues if I have them. I know that I burned the image with Windows Image burner. I'm going to use Roxio instead this time.

You should be using the "Light" edition for that kind of hardware.

I must need glasses or attention to detail....I found it.  Tongue

PS- I'm glad Vector Light edition is spelled correctly....I hate it when 'Lite' is used; it's a frontal assault upon anyone's intelligence.
