Suddenly, for some reason, I've lost the title bars on the windows for all applications.

I therefore can't activate a program window by clicking the title bar, because there's no title bar.

I also can't maximise or minimise a window, and I can't quit the program by clicking 'X' at the top right corner, because it's not there.

I don't know how this change has happened.

How can I get my title bars back?

Try opening a terminal and typing
xfwm4 --replace
let us know what happens.

OK, thanks stretchedthin.

I'll back with that machine next Tuesday, so will report back after trying what you suggest.

Hi again

Try opening a terminal and typing
xfwm4 --replace
let us know what happens.

Well that appears to have worked a treat; I now have title bars back and I can minimize windows, and switch between windows again!  Thank you!

The console feedback is:
Code:
xfwm4: /usr/lib/libpng12.so.0: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/libcairo.so.2)
