hplip is a problem. It's still a problem with rc2.  HPLIP uses libusb to communicate with devices, CUPS uses usblp. While cups should be able to use libusb as well it is not, and the two devices do not communicate, for printing.
We have left HPLIP in because it does work for scanning and checking inklevels, but for now you will have to print through cups directly, using a printer that was set-up by cups.
Go to System>>Printing>>+ADD and use that printer set-up for your printing.

I am getting the same problem trying to search for a fix but unable to find one. Whenever I print, the red icon lights up and printer queue stopped (700) Does hp laserjet 3030 does not really work with ubuntu?

I'm not really clear. Are you having a problem now with Vector like you did with Ubuntu, and if so what Version, rc and flavor.  Or is this solely a Ubuntu problem?

I use the Samsung printer for my business, therefore I need it to work in VL7 if possible. My questions are;  may I install the UnifiedLinuxDriver in VL7 as I would in MINT, Ubuntu or Suse? Should I convert the tar.gz file? If I need to convert the tar.gz file I need a how to. Any help would be great.

Also, I am enjoying VL7 allot. I look forward to VL7 64 when available.

@dzink
I think it will work.  No harm in trying as it ships with an uninstall script (uninstall.sh) as well as an install script, (install.sh)

Had a look through the install.sh script and there is a test in there to see what type of Linux distribution the install is going into and Slackware is included.  So I think you will be just fine.
