This version is an early testing vehicle. It is not so much released as it is "escaped into the wild".

Of main interest is the Live installer and the on-line updating mechanism. The user interface is not necessarily what you will find in the final product. Additionally, all packages are the newest available from the testing section of the repository.

Intrepid testers may be exposed to frequent and large changes.

Known issues:
- All passwords are blank. Just press enter if you are asked for any password.
- USB sticks/drives will not be mounted automatically. Fixed via update.
- The progress bar for the installation may disappear or not show accurate information. Watch the CPU load applet in the lower right corner of the screen for indication of activity. The HDD activity light is another good indicator. It will proceed to the next screen when copying is done.
- LILO installation is very basic. The second choice (/dev/sdx) will target the MBR of the selected drive. If you don't want a current boot loader overwritten, you can install to a floppy drive, or use the CD to boot from. When using the CD, arrow down and highlight the boot entry labeled "Boot VL installed..", press Tab to edit the entry if you did not install to "/dev/sda1". Once logged in to the new system, you can run vliloconf for a more flexible setup.
- Your system may experience total meltdown. Make sure the computer is contained in a concrete or steel enclosure. Wear protective clothing and full head gear.

Notable features:
- All passwords are blank. Just press enter if you are asked for any password.
- We added a quick configurator for IceWM. Find it on the system menu, next to the menu updater.
- Configuration is "heavy", with most services activated.
- System is pre-configured for file sharing with Windows, XP style. The directory /home/shared is public, with world read/write permissions.
- PCManFM can browse remote file systems. In the address bar, type "smb://" for windows shares, "ftp://" for FTP sites.
- The live update: Make sure you are connected to the Internet and use the "Upgrade System" icon on the desktop. Root password is blank, just press enter when asked for it. An update will be downloaded from the mother ship and installed. Update 1 is available. All it does is change your version number and the READ_ME file on the desktop. Please try it.

Quick note for VL6 Light users: To burn ISO at slower speed, use command line:
Code:
tburn -8 /path/to/isofile

New update available, which contains a bleeding edge version of PCManFM. USB storage devices will show up in file manager, you can mount and unmount using right-click action. Use the upgrade icon on desktop to download and install.

Notice on updates: Please run the updater repeatedly until you are on the most current version, and do it before you install to hard drive.
