Hello VectorLinux community!

First, I come from of canada * French Canadien * I started with Linux in 2007 after another blue screen of death Windows XP. After that I decided that Windows was over for me! Like many, I tested all kinds of Linux Distro as beginning and I must say that the choice was great. I remember during my tests VectorLinux is the one that impressed me most in terms of speed, stability and administration tools on my old Toshiba Laptop P30. Since that time and although I always use other Distro. But I've always been a fan of VectorLinux. I never really needed to post on the forum because I have not had any major problems. Today I have three computer with a mini Netbook and a big next-generation desktop. There is also that of my girlfriend that I'am built. VL Soho KDE is one of the only Linux Distro KDE has run perfectly on the Netbook with not freeze screen. Only 5 Distro runs perfectly on this hardware a bit light on all the ones I tested for fun * over 40 distro *. Moreover, VL is always turned on all Desktop and Laptop that I use as a test. * I built computers as a hobby for my friends and business Customers *

Today I introduced myself on the forum. Because I would like that VectorLinux is considered by most new Linux users. Vector Linux for me is in the Top 10 Distro for all of these qualities. I am always surprised on the Distrowatch the rank of VectorLinux.

I think Vector Linux offers the best of both world is: easy installation, stability of Slackware, a fast system and system administration tools.

Best Regard

A big thank you for your welcome message.

I would be happy to help the community of VectorLinux. I am very busy with my work and my second job hobby * Linux and Webmaster at part-time *
I could perhaps help beginners with VectorLinux who speaks in French only. On the next version I expect joy. I tested the last and as usual it works fine on my PC. Compiz too!

Maybe start a new forum in French. I am very pleased that two of the best Linux distribution are Canadian * VectorLinux and Gentoo *  .... Long life to VectorLinux that remains is to make it known to new users Lamba.

Morning tictacPoc,
I think VL has grown to be an international distribution.  In my short time here (compared to the many of the forums VL diehards), I've seen contributions to the OS from, Germany, Indonesia, America, Costa-Rica, Canada, Russia, and others.
That being said I think it's odd that we don't have more language choices in the installer. (Just English and Spanish at this point.)  It's too late for the latest release, but one thing that would be very valuable would be a French language translation for the installer.
Would something like that be of interest?

Hi Stretchedthin,

This is not a problem! I can do for you fairly quickly.  Just send me the file. In fact I started a user guide for new users. I take the term used on the wiki. But I'll do it more colorful and visual.  At the moment I translated from English.  I will draw the user guide of CMS and Linux distro I found amusing and instructive nonetheless.   I have my girlfriend who speaks Spanish well so I will put upon to guide * Startup VectorLinux * if she want to do for me.. hahahahaha    This will be good practice occasion for her Spanish.  After that if the new user want learn more,  the forums is there.  Bu the fact,  most of the questions have already been asked.

I have just installed the very latest RC2  I've seen on a mirror today! Install on this little netbook LT30 Amd 2GB RAM, Proco very basic with 250 GB hard drive and screen of 11.6 inches with resolution at 1366 x 768 http://notebookitalia.it/netbook-gateway-lt20-e-lt30-5215.html
Everything works perfectly. The only thing is I have to avoid Firefox. Too greedy in CPU. I use Opera.

Best Regard   Wink
