« on: August 01, 2011, 10:27:02 am »

Hi all,

when i try to format usb disk with windows fat32 by using gnome-disk-utility-2.32.0 it gives me an error no implemted driver found. Now im searching a possibility to rebuild this package or download this package.

Does anyone else ever got this problem?

Can't say I've used the zen, but I've formated many a usb drive to fat 32 just using the function in vasm.
System >> vasm >> Super... >> Filesystem >> Format

Insert your drive but don't mount it, inorder for it to be detected.

Code: [Select]
e2fsck /dev/sdc
e2fsck 1.41.14 (22-Dec-2010)
e2fsck: Superblock invalid, trying backup blocks...
e2fsck: Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open /dev/sdc

The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2
filesystem.  If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2
filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock
is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:
    e2fsck -b 8193 <device>

in vasm there only reiserfs, xfs, ext3 and ext2 file systems but no fat16 or fat 32 .. well i think i have to rewrite superblock

think i need to modify disk geometry

Code: [Select]
Disk /dev/sdc - 990 MB / 945 MiB - CHS 256 30 63

Warning: the current number of heads per cylinder is 30
but the correct value may be 255.
You can use the Geometry menu to change this value.
It's something to try if
- some partitions are not found by TestDisk
- or the partition table can not be written because partitions overlaps.

Code: [Select]
tail -f /var/log/messages
