Is there any difference between the 2 regarding the packages that would be installed.
Thanks

There is a little but not much.
Live will install a couple of extra packages actually.   Gparted, vl-usb-install, mklive (make LiveCD's , and the Live installer ap itself.

When you use the install CD there is a more developed gui application to take you through the process, plus a choice of lilo or grub as you bood-loader.

Some stuff had to go to make Live fit on a CD:
- Most notably; the Opera browser
- git
- kernel-stripped sources
- some wallpapers
- almost everything in /usr/share/doc

I made an archive containing the /usr/share/doc files. Look for it to be available to download soon.
