Open a terminal window, enter command "brasero" and look for error messages.

Open a terminal window, enter command "brasero" and look for error messages.
output=brasero: error while loading shared libraries: libgmime-2.4.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

In the mean time you may want to try k3b or xfburn they are both in the repositories.
also try this as root. slapt-get --install gmime That should give Brasero the library it's looking for.
if you want to know when gmime got uninstalled try grep gmime /var/log/pkgtools (This will get you Installed results as well) or grep Removed.*gmime /var/log/pkgtools

thanks stretch, You read my mind. I went with xfburn. But will keep your suggestions in mind as a backfall.

flip-city was this on 64bit. I'm getting the same problem with 64bit beta 2.5.

flip city,
the current brasero is not compatible with gmime-2.5.7...you want to upgrade back to gmime-2.4.x to make brasero work...

I have version 2.30.0, which works without any problem in Vector Linux 7.0 (my current operating system), and if I remember right, I installed it using Gslapt.
