Whatever happened to Wolvix ?
« on: January 21, 2012, 11:07:09 pm »
Before i began using vector, my initial exposure to a slackware based distro was Wolvix.
Anyone have any clues as to why it has discontinued development ?
I thought it was a very promising OS. And the developer was a working class hero, to boot.

I rather liked Wolvix, shame it's down for the count. I hope that Vector Linux does not suffer the same fate.

I think Vector has greater longevity and a slightly wider developer base.  I hope very much its not going to be discontinued, I can't imagine that it wouldn't be here for another 10 years.

Yeah, hopefully I can see this distro to be around for like another 10 years. It's got a good team to back it up.

Well, according to what vec told a while back VectorLinux has been around since 1999.

I know I've been using Vector Linux for 12 years so it definitely has longevity.

Some elements of Wolvix (particularly the control panel) have been updated and will appear in a distro called Linux Yarok this spring.  Yarok has been around as a private distro since 2008 but the first public release is coming fairly soon.  I know because I'm one of the lead developers.  There will also be some bits familiar to Vector Linux users :)
