Windows 7 under VirtualBox
« on: January 25, 2012, 12:25:50 pm »

I am having trouble 'seeing' the Linux drives from Windows.

The first thing I need to do is find out where to set the drives to 'shared' status.
I'm just not used to VL yet.

2 things you need to do
1) Read the SAMBA documentation to setup your shares.
2) Install vbox guest additions on your virtual windows 7 install.  Then you can "map network drive" your samba shares from the host.

This setup will work assuming that the guest is using a bridged network connection and is on the same network as the host.

The only piece of information I needed was how to set the status of the drives to enable access from Windows. Samba, vbox and guest additions are already in place. As for mapping the drives, I can do it standing on my head i everything up to and including XP but 7? A differnt animal.
