This is about your tv card. Tvtime is not the real
problem. Since a window does not open you can
not easily configure the card.

Follow the link and see if you get anywhere as far
as getting your card working.

Perhaps it would help me more if I knew where the Tvtime files that I need to modify are actually stored.

What sub-directory would .tvtime be in (and please consider the fact that I just switched to Vector Linux 7.0 from Windows 7 on the 9th of this month)?

In doing some experimentation with tvtime, I have made a few, somewhat "interesting" discoveries, among which is the fact that when I run tvtime from terminal mode WITHOUT making any change to the value of "V4LDevice" in the tvtime.xml file, the tvtime window shows up as blank with a black background and the following message in the terminal:

Running tvtime 1.0.2.
Reading configuration from /etc/tvtime/tvtime.xml
Reading configuration from /root/.tvtime/tvtime.xml
videoinput: Can't get tuner info: Invalid argument
videoinput: Can't get tuner info: Invalid argument

BUT - when I change the value of "VL4Device" to "/dev/video42" (the value for my tuner card), the tvtime window shows up - but with a BLUE background, and all the text that I think that it is supposed to have, and the following message in the terminal:

Running tvtime 1.0.2.
Reading configuration from /etc/tvtime/tvtime.xml
Reading configuration from /root/.tvtime/tvtime.xml
videoinput: Cannot open capture device /dev/video42: No such file or directory

I then renamed the "video0" file to "video42" and got the first result when I ran tvtime again. this seems to suggest to me that for some reason tvtime is not getting access to the "video0" (or "video42") file. Please help!!!
