I just remembered. I did have trouble with suspend while using the nouveau drivers for Nvidia. Once I installed the proprietary drivers, suspend worked just fine.

here.Edit, Well I just did as I advised and installed the nvidia proprietary drivers to my system and had the same problem, with suspend and hibernate. Interestingly enough I am able to suspend on the same machine when it is booted to vl7.0 64bit
I'm now thinking that it was on the vl64bit install that the upgrade to nvidia proprietary drivers was what finally did the trick for me. I'll see if I can duplicate the results on my new 32bit install.
