Ralink has been giving me some troubles since around kernel 2.6.38 it seems.
I'm unable to use either of my ralink devices (one is pci, one is usb) to connect to my cellphone's wifi access point. It dies out while attempting to connect, with a beacon error in dmesg.
Ralink(serialmonkey?) was doing really well there for a little while for linux drivers. Seems the trend has changed.

Bonjour!
seril monkey project now closed down. as all old ralink chip support by serial monkey're part of built-in driver with in kernel, such as kernel 3.2.12 can drive ralink old wifi chips by default. new ralink chips (such as 2870, 3370, 5370) not supported by built-in driver in kernel yet...... now i'm using ralink 3370 wifi chip, intalled with official driver, but internet keeps dropping, gone dummy in the middle of now where...... I did email ralink company technical support, but no reply never, Those Taiwanese/red evil chinese communists capitalists, honest linux users won't be served, ralink's only interested how to swindle cash investment from jewish Yankee nasdaq market and fool yankee/brits/oz/aussies....look at their sweatshop operation factories in evil red mainland china! Only Linux community can find better sullution for the open driver.

Bonjour a tous!
alas, finally got the key for the internet drop issues with ralink 3370 chip wifi, mcedit /etc/Wireless/RT2870STA/RT2870STA.dat
then set WirelessMode=7 or wirelessMode=0 (from default value at 5)
now internet stable with rt3370, no more drop.
additionally, we can fine tune the wifi by editing /etc/Wireless/RT2870STA/RT2870STA.dat
do share more your fine tuned value here in this thread.

You may want to update the subject line with the word [SOLVED] in the front. That way those of us who are trying to help with tech support will know we can look at other threads instead.
Thanks!

bonjour!
internet drop issue with ralink 3370 usb wifi, not fully sovled yet! still, it's still not so stable, but internet droped less frequently than before setting "WirelessMode=0"
still once internet gone dummy, wicd can't detect it, still showing the wifi connection sign, always have to manualy disconnect and reconnect. ralink official linux driver 's still buggy, unless ralink realsing new fixing driver to linux users worldwide. ralink technical support team should report progress here!
