okular margin problem
« on: April 02, 2012, 07:10:09 pm »

Sometimes a pdf is too far to the left and, when printed, the first character or two down the left side of the page are cut off.  kpdf would allow the user to increase the left margin when printing a pdf.

Okular, which supercedes kpdf, says it will do the same thing.  However, though the settings show the ability to add whitespace to the left margin, when printed, the additional whitespace does not show and the leftmost characters are still cut off.

Anyone know how to fix this in okular or, just as well, of another way to add whitespace to the left side of the page when printing a pdf?

Well, I guess this will just have to await further developments in okular as kpdf is no longer in the repositories.  Kpdf was part of kdegraphics but does not seem to have been included in the version now in the repositories.

The work-around is to set the left margin to 10 in System>Printing and then, after printing the document go back to Printing and reset the left margin to 0.  If not, all documents will print too far to the right.  Does not work with acroread but works fine with xpdf and okular.

If anyone has any ideas on how to get okular or some similar program to set the left margin just for that program, please advise.
