Hello. I am interested in using this utility. I've installed packages from aur in arch (within arch) before and I've used slackbuilds (within salix) before. But I'm not sure how to use arch-makepkg. I've read the man page and searched the forums, but can't quite find a how-to. In fact several of the interesting posts seem to be "off limits" to me (according to the search function in the forums.) I can make some guesses as to using arch-makepkg but I want to be certain.

Thanks.

After you have downloaded the PKGBUILD and any necessary accompanying files from packages.archlinux.org or from aur.archlinux.org or from whatever source...

Place them in a directory by them selfes and change into that directory. run `arch-makepkg`. In most cases you will need to tweak the PKGBUILD a little bit for vectorlinux.

arch-makepkg isn't completely ported to VL at this point, but the majority of it is, and its usable for packaging. If you find any bits that need improvement or need further tailored for VL, please speak up Smiley
