The Vector development crew is proud to announce  the RC2 release of VLocity Linux 7.0.
VLocity Linux is 64bit Vector Linux.

We have done our best to reproduce VectorLinux in 64bit and we are really close to pulling it off. The kernel is version 3.2.13, glibc is 2.13  and everything else is up to date with Slackware64-13.37. We have the new xfce-4.8.1 with glx-dock (previously cairo-dock), latest abiword, gnumeric, inkscape, shotwell and a vast array of other programs in all categories at their latest stable versions.
We have done our best at squashing all the bugs reported so far, if we missed any please let us know.

You can download the VLocity 7.0 RC2 iso from our official servers here:
http://vectorlinux.osuosl.org/VL64-7.0/iso-release/VL64-7.0-STD-RC2.iso
md5sum: c053290d5ac9852f18b0880ee20bd42c  VL64-7.0-STD-RC2.iso

Please post any bugs found here: https://bitbucket.org/VLCore/vl70/issues?status=new&status=open
If you are not sure if it is a bug or not, or if you have an aversion to the new bug tracker feel free to post about it here.

Thanks,

Thanks, does this have matching kernel headers or is that a separate package?  Downloading now so I guess I'll know in a few minutes.

Just getting started but got some notes.

#1
For thunars slow start, can we use joe1962's suggestion from here...
http://forum.vectorlinux.com/index.php?topic=15792.0

#2 Setting >> Login Window in menu will not launch (missing vsuper or the like).  I think this launches gdmsetup

#3 Speaking of vsuper or the like, would it be better to just use vsuper and not vsuper, ktsuss, and gksu.  It would be more consistent and I like the features of vsuper best.

#4
Thunar-volman-settings.  Not set up to play cd or dvd on insertion.

#5.
Missing gdmphotosetup from settings menu.

#6
Missing "New Login in a Window" from Menu>>Settings

#7. Extra not enabled by default.

I will post this in a little latter on to the VLcore issues thingy.

I like the simpler of the two wallpapers. It makes me think of a solar storm, or the compression wave in front of an aircraft about to go supersonic.

Question has vl64bit ever been up on distrowatch's side panel?

Agreed as many people are looking for a 64-bit distro and VL is not known for that yet.

It would be nice to have the kernel headers match so that compiling packages that require the match would work without the extra steps of downloading and installing the headers.

I've not been disappointed with VLocity thus far.
