hata_ph, stretchedthin,

When time permits could we get an update of the bluegriffin package in the repositories?  Bluegriffin recently came out with ver 1.4.1.

sledgehammer,

Bad news on bluegriffon-1.4.1. It seem Bluegriffon-1.4.1 need gcc > 4.6.x to run. Currently VL7 is using gcc-4.5.2 which will cause error...

bluegriffin does not need gcc > 4.6.x to run. the bluegriffin binaries that are available from bluegriffin.org were built with a gcc that is newer than the one that ships with VL7, so to use those binaries we either have to upgrade our gcc or package a newer libstdc++.so.6 with bluegriffin.

Otherwise we would have to build griffin from source, which is what we should probably be doing anyway.

I try bluegriffon-1.4.1 on gcc-4.7.0 and it work. libstdc.so.6 is part of gcc-g++ package...
Bluegriffon did not provide the source code so I cannot build from source.

Ran through the steps included in the link above, including downgrading autoconf to version 2.13.
Got stopped with the following ...
checking whether the host c compiler (gcc-4.2  ) works... configure: error: installation or configuration problem: host compiler gcc-4.2 cannot create executables.
*** Fix above errors and then restart with               "make -f client.mk build"

Didn't mean to cause a fuss.  I default to Seamonkey Composer for my quite limited web page needs.  Sometimes I use bluegriffin.  I don't have to use it.

gcc-4.2?

the most common reason for the "compiler cannot create executables" error is when the CFLAGS does not match the host ie, "-march=i586 -mtune=i686" on 64bit.

Don't worry, sometimes we take on these challenges just because it's there.  I am going to give it a rest for a bit though and catch up on other things.
