I need to choose a distro to install on some computers in a school located in a remote mountain region of south east Asia.
Teachers and Students need to be able to come in, sit down, and plug in various removable media such as usb flash drives and usb hard drives without having to edit a line of code or do any other thing. The device should just appear, ready for use in the file system.
I didn't want to have to go with Ubuntu, but now it's looking like I may well have to, because I can't seem to find a way to make this happen under vector Linux, and I'm not so skilled that I could just write a script to automate the process.
Anyone have any ideas? This is where I've looked so far: http://distro.ibiblio.org/vectorlinux/docs/vl60/manuals/vl6_mounting_guide_en.html
Even if you could just show me the search terms you used in the search box to find the answer, I would be most grateful.
