Howto search through the file system?
« on: June 19, 2012, 05:56:20 pm »
My laptop has two OS, while in VL I want to access a file that resides in the home folder of the other Linux OS.  The default file manager doesn't seem to have a search function.  Am I missing something?

Could install the package gtkfind or findwild from Gslapt.  Or just use the terminal and use the command "find", or also with the terminal run, as root, the command "updatedb", and then you can quickly find files with the "locate" command.
I am using VL7.0 standard with XFCE

You can probably press Ctrl-F in the file manager to get its search function.
The following sentence is true. The previous sentence is false.

Interesting.  That does work in Thunar.  Odd that it's not listed as a command in the Edit drop-down list.

Ctrl + F on Thunar can only search file/folder on that directory only :)
