Hello. I find that I'm getting some really strange behaviour in my computer, and I haven't clue what it means. It started in just the past hour.
Thunar seemed to lose all its file associations, and was opening everything with geany, the text editor. Geeqie, my photo viewer, doesn't recognize photo files anymore. Some of the icons on Cairo have changed to a question-mark. Gslapt doesn't show the little boxes beside the name of the packages that indicate whether the package is installed or not.
When I rebooted, I was given the following messages:
There was an error loading the theme VL-Cipsed
Couldn't recognize the image file format for file '/usr/share/gdm/themes/VL-Clipsed/gnu-linux.png
Then, in the next screen, I was told:
There was an error loading the theme, and the default theme could not be loaded. Attempting to start the standard greeter.
The standard greeter did work, and so I'm in. But, as I said, there are just some things wrong, many of which seem to centre on image files.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
[later edit]
I'm attaching a screenshot that hopefully will illustrate what I'm saying. Note how some of the desktop icons are simply the text "abc" icon (this is true in Thunar as well), and note how the desktop background is blank. Also see that some, though not all, Cairo icons are now question marks, and see how the status field in Gslapt is blank. Also note that the Menu icon is missing.
So, some icons are missing, whereas some are not.
