Missing software???
« on: August 08, 2012, 08:02:34 am »

Yesterday I installed VLOCITY 64 on my computer, and what I want to know is this - Why is it that DVDStyler, and TVTime no longer show up in the repositories?

They are not 64 bit programs

It will interest you to know that when I was using Windows 7 as my operating system (the 64-bit version by the way) I was, for example, using DVDStyler on it without any problem, so why then can't it be used with VLOCITY 64?

I get a hint of sarcasm in your post. Please do not
do that again.

Vlocity is pure 64 bit.

What you want can be done, if you install 32 bit compatible libraries
and compilers.

Here is how to do that:

I'm sorry if I was being sarcastic (believe me it was NOT intentional), but thank you for the information.

Sorry to do this again, but after reading the article that you posted, I find that I am even more confused then I was when I started - for example, how do I figure out which steps I need to go through, and in what order?

Thanks in advance for you're help with this matter.

The instructions are clear and in order.

You need to install the multilib of gcc and glibc.
(As long as the version numbers match for Vector)

Then read the three README for the exact details on
doing the 32 bit conversions that will be needed. You
should be able to use the scripts that are there.

You will need to download the sources of all the packages.
There are about 100 sources you will need to do this, that
is by using the slackware packages.

After that you will be good to go. When I do everything by hand it
takes about 1 hour for the compiling and 15 minutes for the upgrade
of the packages.
For me I mirror slackware so I already have the sources

Hope that is a bit more clear. This is about as easy as it gets.

What steps should I take if the gcc and glibc libraries are already installed (they already are according to the Gslapt package manager), and what three README are you referring to?

You need new gcc and glibc. They are not in gslapt.

Maybe this readme will make things a bit more clear:

[url]http://slackware.com/~alien/multilib/source/[/url
]
You will need to use the appropriate gcc and glibc from
Slackware. You should be able to fins that by using this
command:

cat /etc/slackware-version

None of the package sources are in gslapt either.

You will need to download them from osusl.

There are links to the README are the site I gave you.

You need to read and understand everything on the
detailed installation. All of the information is there.

One note I did not mention earlier. You will not be able to
to do updates, since they will break the packages you
built and installed.
