I have a dual core and I am running VL 7,0, I am wondering if it would run faster if I change the kernel to the one for 64 bits. Could it be possible?

There would not be a noticeable effect.

64 bit really becomes noticeable if you
are using large amounts of RAM for one
program at one time. That would mean
using more than 4 gigs of RAM at one time.

There are usually only four reasons for upgrading a kernel.

A. Size for embeded devices
B. Security updates
C. Hardware not working for some hardware
D. Learning

Other than that not alot of other reasons to do so.
