When starting a new IceWM session a window opens that I can't close, this seems to be related to obmixer - which isn't displayed on the tool bar. If I log out and log in most of the time the mixer is displayed.
I have an xsession-error message, don't know if this helps

Look in ~/.icewm/startup Find the line for obmixer and comment it out. Log out and back in. Does the problem persist?

With it commented out the problem goes, just means I manually have to start obmixer each time by hand as it were... most annoying!

It may help to introduce a slightly longer delay before obmixer launches.

Look in ~/.icewm/startup Right before the command to start obmixer, add a line: sleep 5 experiment with different numbers and see if that helps.
